Weekend Away Part II: St. Jacob's.

[ Tommy Hilfiger shorts (old) // H&M top // O'clock watch // DIY necklace (more about that to come!) // Matt & Nat Purse // Michael Kors Sunglasses // Geox flats ]

Last Saturday my mom and I headed to a little town called St. Jacob's outside of Kitchener. As you may have been able to tell, my mom and I like visiting little towns, as we did here. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's the quaintness. You can explore towns without being intimidated by their size, as one might be in a bigger city. I like (love) cities, too ... but there's just something so nice about visiting a town and getting to know it by walking around and visiting what it has to offer (food and shopping wise especially). Maybe that's also why I love European towns so much. (My trip, by the way, is under two weeks away!!!!!!!)

Luckily, we were able to visit the market in St. Jacob's, and boy was it ever neat! As you also know, I really like markets, too. See here, for example. There were so many vendors selling different foods, flea market goodies, candy, flowers, clothing, jewellery, and more. It was crazy! I've never been to a market so ... large. Have any of you heard of St. Jacob's or been there? After the market we walked around the town a bit and found a lovely patio for lunch. It was so scorchingly hot again that day, but I did get a few photos of my outfit. Thanks, mom! Anyway, happy Friday to you all, I hope it's a relaxing weekend for you! xo Caroline

A Refreshingly Fresh Summer Meal.

This is a deliciously fresh summer meal that I will make again and again (even in the Fall and Winter). The mix of sweet potato, guacamole, black beans, red onion, garlic, and cilantro in corn tortillas is just... no words. When you're in need of a change from BBQ'd meats (or you don't eat them at all) this recipe is fantastic!! No lie!! Not surprisingly, I found via Pinterest. The recipe directions are super straight-forward and easy on the website from which it comes from. Find it here. For that reason, I'm not going to bother re-posting the recipe in this post. Well, also because I'm a bit lazy today. And I didn't really change anything about the recipe. Anyway, enjoy!! xo Caroline

P.S. I don't have time to post photos from my weekend this morning but I will tomorrow!

Weekend Away Part I: Hot Hot Heat

[ Thrifted shorts, shirt, and shoes // Roots bag // Free People Sunnies // Obaku watch ]

I had such a fun weekend this weekend! My family, Jimmy, and I headed up to Kitchener to visit my brother who goes to college there. These photos are from the night we arrived. After a full day in the car (traffic in Toronto was brutal), I was tired and felt gross but still managed to get Jimmy to snap a few photos of me outside the hotel in the scorching hot heat. We then went out to a really suave  Italian restaurant called Del Dente for dinner and wine. Photos from the following two days are to come! Overall, the trip was low-key and simple yet super enjoyable. I was so happy to just hang out, get away, and spend time laughing with my brother. And we only fought once, thankfully! What did you get up to? xo Caroline

Quick Tips: Lipstick-free Wine Glasses.

I wear a lot of lipstick and I love wine so I was automatically intrigued by this tip and wanted to try it out. I found out about it here. It works really well, actually. All you have to do is lick your wine glass each time you're about to take a sip. So, if you're at a restaurant or a party of sorts you might look like a weirdo who is either really hungry or really drunk. Regardless, your lipstick won't come off and it won't leave kiss-like markings on your wine glass (or any glass for that matter?). At least mine didn't. Try it for yourself!

Happy Monday! I'm still in Kitchener right now visiting my brother, but it's time to go home soon and get back to the busy work week that awaits! xo Caroline

Easy DIY Chain Rings.

This is such a simple DIY! It also only cost me $2 and not very much time at all. And, to top it off, I love my chain rings, which you can of course wear on individually or together. They add a simple statement to any outfit. Enjoy!! (Oh, I came across this DIY here.)

Well, today I'm off to Kitchener & area with the family and the boyfriend :) to visit my brother and see some sights. (Including Niagara Falls ... which I've never been to before!) Needless to say, I'm pretty excited. But I still plan (hope) to do some work in the car ride there and back. Let's hope I can stick to it, though I'm sure many of my friends reading this will tell me NOT to do that and to take a darn break for once. But my excuse is this: I'm going to Europe soon and so shouldn't take a break now, too!!! I know, I know. We'll see. Chow! xo Caroline
